PostSubject: First Timer Pool Session April 9, 2010   Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:16 pm

Friday Night Paddling First Timer Sessions at the Leisure
Center

  • first timers welcome session is for club members and newcomers. For new comers, basic instruction will be provided such as boat fitting, wet exits and basic strokes. We describe this as casual instruction and this instruction is only intended to allow a new paddler to safelyattend indoor pool sessions.
  • If you have a fear of water and are extremely uncomfortable in a kayak, this may not be the sport for you. As a safety measure you will be required to exit the kayak while up side down in control, at least 3 times.
  • Also, a minimum level of fitness is required.
  • At the start of the second session new comers are expected to become club members by making payment and signing waivers.
  • friends & family of club members are welcome to use the hot tub (as long as the tub is open. Swimming is not permitted due to kayaks
    being in the water.
  • Cost is $15/session
  • For a club member using their own whitewater kayak at a pool session the cost is $12/session.
  • There is a 50% discount to all youth paddlers who are club members.
  • Each new comers session will be limted to a maximum of 6 people. By posting on the session entry on this forum, one can book a spot.
Those booking and not showing will be remembered not very fondly.
  • Swim suit, water shoes and nose plugs are good things to bring.
  • It is a good idea to be the pool by 9:15 pm to get your monies worth.
  • First timers must be changed and at the poolside ready to go by 9:15 pm since the instructor will start boat fitting at that time. Wet exits
will start at 9:30 pm promptly.
  • Please bring both waivers signed. They can be found at the following link http://wwwkayakers.bestcheapforum.com/paddling-safety-code-must-read-f4/club-waivers-links-t334.htm
